Impaired VS Fatigued Driving

The holiday season sees an increase in both impaired driving and fatigued driving, both of which can result in deaths on our roads.

Luckily this guy wasn't driving!

Driving while Fatigued

People can be driven to fatigue on long road trips and during long days, or even after that turkey dinner. Driving fatigued decreases awareness and can be just as bad as impaired driving. We need to make sure we are fit and alert before deciding to drive.

Avoiding Impaired driving

The police and R.I.D.E. programs will be out this season to help ensure our safety. We need to do our part to keep the roads safe by making the commitment not to drive if we have been drinking.

If you are the host of a holiday party, arrange a taxi service beforehand, or designate a few people to remain 100% sober. You can also make sure those who are visiting from a distance have a place to stay the night. It can be good practice to confiscate keys or have those who are drinking leave their vehicles at home entirely.

How do you deter impaired driving during the holiday season? We encourage you to share your tactics in the comments below!
